Burberry Prorsum - Runway Review

While Burberry’s technological advancements have been nothing short of a wonder—Monday’s show boasted the first-ever instant Tweetwalk show live from London—Christopher Bailey looked back to the age-old art of craftsmanship for spring, delivering a collection that continued the story where resort left off—filled with beading and crocheting and utilizing such materials as leather, wood and raffia. Bailey brilliantly married time-tested craft with digital speed.
Right from the get-go was a catwalk filled with outerwear, chock full of prints and plenty of jacquard and embellishment. In tune with the happy, joyous feel of the collection, Bailey sent out explosions of color like chrome yellow, sapphire blue, hawthorne red, indigo green and chocolate. Signature trenchcoats were present and accounted for—a slimmer silhouette was shown—boasting details like detachable collars, embellished bits of chunky wood and raffia. A fabulous peplum jacket was on tap, as was a cropped canopy parka and delightful ruched bow dress. Skirts, from military and knotted to high-waisted and knotted, also featured plenty jacquard, raffia and knit—a true cornucopia of textures and dimension.
