Season after season, Tomas Maier continues to reaffirm the notion that the Bottega Veneta woman emanates elegance and chic. There was little deviation from that for fall, as the dark, exquisitely tailored coats and suits left most, if not all, in awe. These are clothes women with significant means dream of wearing; the complete picture is there, from the flat riding boots to the gloves and pearl earrings to even the dash of burgundy lipstick to finish (could a beauty line be far off?). In a fast-paced show, the models crackled with energy—a peacoat and tunic were styled with oversized rock-crystal brooches while dresses buzzed by awash in arty prints, textured embroideries and, of a beige crepe number, perfectly lined to the body down to the silver-bead brooch. Anyone worth her fashion credo knows Bottega Veneta is at the top of its game; these might be fantasy clothes to most, budget-wise, but for that rarified sliver fortunate to own these magnificent creations, they’re much more than a crucial must-have. They’re a way of life.
