Ralph Lauren - Runway Review

With a glossy white runway made of glass tiles capped by three steps at the end an enormous bouquet of hydrangea, roses and calla lilies greeting guests, Ralph Lauren certainly knows how to make a first impression. Pastel 1920s screen siren was the apparent theme from look one—a series of pastel sportswear pieces in Easter-appropriate hues of coral, daffodil, robin’s egg and celery. Pretty was the pink blouse worn with mint green trousers and a gauzy baby blue cardigan, accessorized with pastel espadrille platforms. For evening, out came creamy white gowns and bead-heavy slips in his favorite Art Deco shapes that channeled that high-polish glamour that he has become synonymous with. Complementing the rich hues were a number of floral looks that were “vintaged” (shredded and aged). However, at the end of the day, it was the evening portion that stole the show. The number of white gowns recalled his all-white collection from 10 years ago, shown after 9/11.
